Word of the Week - Idiosyncrasy

The word of the week is idiosyncrasy, which means a characteristic, habit, mannerism, or the like, that is peculiar to an individual. As students of learning, you will meet so many people who are not like you nor share the same interests as you and that is fine. Being different and expressing, our own individuality is what makes each of us unique. Below is an audio of a Texas high school student who was told that his shoulder length dread-locks were a violation to the school dress code, and in order to participate in his senior graduation, he will have to cut them. DeAndre’s hair is an idiosyncrasy to him so he refused; listen below to see what happened next.
