Garrulous - Word of Week

Our word for the week is Garrulous. Garrulous is an adjective that refers to someone giving to rambling or pointlessly and annoyingly talkative. As students of learning, please realize that knowledge enlightens you with new information for sharing. Yet, don’t become a know-it-all with a garrulous attitude around others. Know how to enlighten without becoming garrulous.

Muliebrity and Virility -- Word of Week

Welcome back to Wallace Community College for our summer term. Today, I prefer sharing two words instead of one as the words of the week -- Muliebrity and Virility. Muliebrity refers to the quality of a woman whereas virility is its masculine counterpart.  Therefore, as students, I convey to you to remain confident in yourself instead of conforming to that muliebrity or virility of others’ expectation. Muliebrity and virility are best expressed not by dressing a certain way but your poise and sureness.

Slumgullion -- Word of Week

Our word of the week is Slumgullion. The definition of Slumgullion refers to a meat stew. Slumgullion does not sound appetizing but the smell of stew can make your mouth watery alerting your taste buds and incurring hungry within your mind. As Slumgullion alerts your senses that it is time to eat, Graduation ceremony arouses the benefit for all that hard studying. 

So congratulations to our graduates on getting that Tassel at Wallace Community College.  

Cathexis -- Word of Week

Our word of the week is cathexis. According to the Oxford Dictionary, cathexis is “the concentration or accumulation of mental energy in a particular channel.” Cathexis is typically use in a scientific or psychological context. Before examinations, students may form a cathexis for different subjects as they review their studies. As final examinations approach, I encourage a healthy cathexis for academics.

Below are five studying tips that I recommend.

1. Discover your learning styles.

2. Review and revise.

3. Take breaks.

4. Ask for help.

5. Stay motivated.

Aegis -- Word of Week

Our word of the week is aegis. Aegis is a noun that means protection or controlling influence. As students you must realize that an educational setting is a learning opportunity. However, a master student recognizes the broader aegis of education. For instance, the aegis of education enables one to experience additional opportunities that are unavailable for less privileged individuals. So value your education as you gravitate toward becoming that master student with life-time learning opportunities just from the fact of the boarder aegis of education.
